Fast Emergency Breakdown Help on M1, M4, M5, M6, M25, A1(M) & All UK Motorways
When your vehicle breaks down on a UK motorway, every second counts. Whether you’re on a busy stretch any of the UK Motorways from M1 to……as an example travelling long-distance on the M6, or driving through a rural section of the A1(M), being stranded can be stressful and dangerous.
QuickTow247 provides 24/7 emergency motorway roadside assistance and vehicle recovery across England, Scotland, and Wales.

Fast Response
A breakdown on a local road is stressful. A breakdown on the M25 at 70 mph, with lorries thundering past metres away, is something else entirely. The hard shoulder — where it still exists — gives you very little protection. Statistics consistently show that staying near a broken-down vehicle on a live motorway puts you at serious risk.
That’s why motorway recovery isn’t just about towing a car. It’s about sending trained professionals who understand high-speed road environments, who operate under strict safety protocols, and who know how to secure a scene, protect a driver, and move a vehicle without creating further hazards.
Our operators carry deep local knowledge of every stretch of the M25, M1, M4, M6, and M40 — junction by junction, service area by service area. When your call comes through, we don’t just dispatch the nearest van. We send the right unit, with the right equipment, driven by someone who knows exactly where you are and the fastest legal route to reach you.
At QuickTow24/7, we don’t just list motorways — we provide real, on-road support across every mile, junction, postcode zone, and A-junction. Whether you face a breakdown, accident, tyre issue, or engine failure, our licensed, insured, and fully equipped recovery team is ready to respond within 30–50 minutes on most routes.

Every incident is different. Our teams carry the training and equipment to deal with whatever you’re facing — from a flat tyre on the M6 hard shoulder to a seized engine blocking a live lane on the M25.
When your vehicle stops moving — through mechanical failure, collision damage, or any other cause — our dispatch team gets the closest motorway unit moving immediately. We locate you precisely using live location sharing, approach from the safest access point, and follow strict traffic management procedures on arrival. We don’t just tow: we assess the scene, secure the vehicle, and confirm you’re safely away from traffic before recovery begins. Every step follows the protocols set by National Highways for motorway working.
Overheating, transmission failure, clutch collapse, suspension problems, engine seizure — mechanical breakdowns on motorways need more than improvised roadside fixes. Our operators diagnose accurately at the scene and decide fast: can we resolve it in a safe environment, or does your vehicle need transporting to a garage? If a roadside fix isn’t possible, we take your vehicle to your preferred garage, a nearby specialist, or any location you choose. We carry common spare parts and fluids so minor but immobilising faults often get fixed without a full recovery journey.
Not every vehicle can be conventional tow-bar recovered. Low-profile sports cars, all-wheel-drive vehicles, and anything with undercarriage or suspension damage needs a flatbed. Our fleet includes modern flatbed tow trucks capable of loading cars, vans, minibuses, and light commercial vehicles safely. Wheel-lift and underlift trucks also form part of the fleet for restricted-space situations — narrow slip roads, congested service area exits, or underpasses. Every load gets strapped using rated securing equipment and checked before we move a metre.
A tyre blowout at motorway speeds is frightening, and handling a wheel change near a live carriageway without proper safety equipment is genuinely dangerous. We dispatch mobile tyre technicians carrying a full stock of branded, premium tyres in the most common passenger and commercial sizes — fitted at affordable prices with no compromise on quality. They establish a proper safe working zone, remove the damaged tyre, fit the correct replacement, torque the wheel to manufacturer specification, and confirm tyre pressure before you drive away.
A dead battery in a service area car park or on a slip road is one of our most frequent callouts. Our technicians carry commercial-grade jump start equipment covering both 12V and 24V systems — cars, vans, and light commercial vehicles included. We also carry battery health testing kit to assess whether your existing battery holds charge properly after a start, so you don’t leave the motorway and stop again 10 miles down the road. If the battery has failed entirely, we supply and fit a suitable replacement on the spot.
Running out of fuel on a motorway happens more often than most drivers expect — particularly on longer, unfamiliar routes. The moment you lose power, coast to the hard shoulder or the nearest Emergency Refuge Area and call us. We carry both unleaded petrol and diesel in approved containers and deliver directly to your location. We stay on scene while you restart to make sure the engine fires cleanly — particularly important if the fuel system has ingested air. We also check for misfuelling before delivering to protect your engine.
Not every motorway stoppage needs a full tow. Many breakdowns come from minor but completely immobilising faults — a snapped auxiliary belt, a blown fuse taking out the fuel pump relay, a loose alternator connection, a failed sensor pushing the ECU into limp mode, or a leaking coolant hose. Our technicians carry a comprehensive toolkit and a bank of common parts covering the most frequent quick-fix scenarios. Where a repair is safe to complete at the roadside or in a designated safe area, we get it done and get you driving again.
Electric and hybrid vehicles need specific recovery knowledge that not all services carry. High-voltage systems require isolation protocols before any physical contact with the drivetrain. EVs cannot be tow-started and must not be recovered on an angle that shifts the battery pack. We carry EV-safe recovery equipment and trained operators for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles across every major motorway we cover — including all current BEV platforms from mainstream manufacturers.
Sole traders, couriers, and small businesses depend on their vans. A breakdown on the M6 with a full payload costs money by the hour. We recover Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter, Fiat Ducato, Vauxhall Vivaro, VW Transporter, and equivalent light commercial vehicles, loaded or unloaded. Our flatbeds handle the extra weight and extended length, and we advise on load separation where required. We work quickly to reduce downtime and provide accurate recovery timelines, not vague estimates.
Any recovery service can show up with a tow rope. Motorway recovery demands far more. The environment — live traffic at 70 mph, Smart Motorway All-Lane Running sections, Active Traffic Management gantries, legally enforced clearance timelines, and complex junction geometries — creates pressures that only experienced, trained operators handle well.
Our operators train specifically for high-speed road environments. Approach angles, warning light deployment, positioning relative to traffic flow — all trained and rehearsed, not improvised on arrival.
National Highways operates strict clearance targets on major motorways. We understand these requirements, work within them, and coordinate with Traffic Officers where an incident requires multi-agency management.
Smart Motorways with All-Lane Running have changed the risk profile of motorway breakdowns significantly. Our teams know the ERA spacing on every ALR section we cover — and guide you to the correct one while you’re still on the phone.
Knowing a breakdown is “on the M25” isn’t enough. Our operators know approach roads, contraflow configurations, junction spacing, service area layouts, and congestion pinch points for every route we cover.
Every recovery operator holds relevant licensing for the vehicle classes they handle. We carry full public liability insurance, operators’ insurance, and our vehicles meet the equipment and lighting standards required for motorway working.
Old, poorly maintained recovery vehicles break down too. Our fleet is serviced on schedule, carries current safety equipment, and uses correctly calibrated lifting and loading gear to protect your vehicle throughout the recovery.
We’ve refined this process to cut every unnecessary delay. The moment you call, everything moves.
Our dispatch team picks up 24/7, 365 days a year. No automated menu trees, no queuing systems. A real operator answers, takes your details quickly, and starts the dispatch process while you’re still on the phone.
We take your motorway, direction of travel, and nearest marker post or junction number. If you’re unsure of your exact location — common at night or under stress — we guide you through using road signs, gantry references, or your phone’s location. On Smart Motorways, Emergency Refuge Areas display a unique reference number; give us that and we pinpoint you instantly.
We dispatch the closest motorway-ready unit with the right equipment for your specific breakdown type. A flatbed for a low car, a tyre truck for a blowout, a jump start van for a battery failure. Matching the unit to the job means no wasted journeys arriving with the wrong setup.
Our technician arrives, positions the recovery vehicle correctly with all required lighting and signage, assesses the scene for immediate safety risks, and checks on you and your passengers before touching the vehicle. Rear-end approach protocols and traffic-aware positioning are standard on every motorway callout.
Where a safe roadside or service area fix is possible, we complete it on the spot. Where recovery is necessary, your vehicle gets secured correctly — strapped to structural anchor points using rated equipment, not just hooked — and transported to your chosen destination. We confirm the drop-off with you before we move.
Whether you drive away on a repaired vehicle, ride with us to the garage, or wait at a safe location while we transport the car — we don’t consider the job complete until you’re safely out of the motorway environment. Your safety comes before the paperwork every time.
Our fleet and operator training spans the full range of vehicles you’ll encounter on major UK routes.
All makes and models — hatchbacks, saloons, estates, coupes. Petrol, diesel, LPG, and mild hybrid drivetrains covered.
EV-specific protocols, high-voltage system awareness, and correct loading procedures. BEVs, PHEVs, and full hybrids handled correctly.
Transit, Sprinter, Ducato, Vivaro, Transporter and equivalents. Loaded or empty — we handle both and advise on load separation where required.
Specialist flatbeds with extended ramps for low-profile vehicles. Sports cars, modified vehicles, and kit cars loaded without contact damage.
Wheel cradles, soft strapping, and transport blankets available. High-value and classic vehicles treated with care and fully documented before loading.
Dedicated motorcycle recovery with correct cradles and tie-down points. Solo bikes, sidecars, and trikes recovered without frame or fairing contact.
AWD and 4WD vehicles need specific recovery methods to protect differentials and transfer boxes during towing. Handled correctly every time.
Up to 16-seat minibuses within our light commercial capacity. Passenger welfare guidance and alternative transport options advised on scene.
Telling a customer “we cover the M25” is easy. Actually knowing where Emergency Refuge Areas sit on the All-Lane Running section between junctions 23 and 27, which service areas have recovery vehicle access points, and the fastest legal routing to Junction 10 from the M3 interchange — that’s what separates a fast response from a slow one.
Once you’ve called and we’re dispatched, your main job is staying safe. Here’s exactly what to do.
If you’ve exited the vehicle and there’s an Armco barrier or embankment available, stay behind it. Your car offers very little protection against an impact at motorway speeds — the barrier is far safer.
Keep hazards on continuously. In poor weather or low light, place a warning triangle at least 45 metres behind the vehicle if you can do so without stepping near moving traffic.
A tyre change or bonnet inspection on a live hard shoulder is never a safe routine task. Stay off the carriageway and wait for trained personnel with the correct traffic protection setup.
If your situation changes — vehicle moves, weather worsens, traffic gets unusually close — call us back. We can escalate response or contact the relevant emergency services on your behalf.
The questions we hear most often — answered clearly so you know exactly what to expect.
Call our 24/7 emergency line immediately. Real operators, instant dispatch, expert recovery teams across all major UK motorways.
